Cocktails for CASA is an opportunity to bring together your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and charitable net-work to learn more about the important work CASA of Sedgwick County in a fun relaxed atmosphere.
CASA is a truly unique collection of community volunteers who’ve donated their time to advocate on behalf of children in the family court and foster care system. CASA has been serving the Sedgwick County for 36 years. In fact it is the 15th oldest CASA program nationally. Today there are more than 1,100 Sedgwick County children in the foster care system, ranging from toddlers to young teens. These children have had to be removed from their families due to abuse, lost siblings, and friends and have changed homes and schools six or seven times in a matter of years.
All children deserve to be safe, and treated with respect and dignity. They have a right to a loving home where they can rebuild friendships and learn and grow. This isn’t just important; it is a fundamental obligation of our society to protect the rights and needs of our children during the most vulnerable time in their lives. The success rate of CASA is nothing short of amazing, but with only 70 advocates they cannot serve all of the children in Sedgwick County.
