OUR MISSION
The mission of CASA of Sedgwick County is to provide caring trained volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in our community so that every child can achieve their full potential.
There are more than 1,400 children experiencing foster care in Sedgwick County on any given day. YOU can make a life changing difference.
Court-Appointed
Special Advocates
Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) make a life-changing difference for children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Each volunteer is appointed by a judge to advocate for a child’s best interest in court. Our volunteers help judges develop a fuller picture of each child’s life. Their advocacy enables judges to make the most well-informed decision for each child.

CASA Volunteer Spotlight
Mary C., CASA Advocate
CASA Mary C. is a relentless advocate for two brothers, ages 18 and 17, who have faced incredible challenges in the foster care system. The older brother had been staying in a temporary non-relative kinship placement after his long-term home fell through due to a heated argument. What was meant to be a short-term stay stretched into three months, and Mary worked tirelessly to ensure he found stability.
In a remarkable turn of events, the younger brother’s foster parents mentioned to Mary that they would be willing to take in his older brother. Wasting no time, she immediately relayed this to the case team, and within a week, the brothers were finally placed together—for the first time since entering state custody in 2022.
Even more heartwarming, the older brother was able to bring his beloved dog along in the move, keeping an important source of comfort and companionship.
But Mary’s dedication didn’t stop there. She helped the 18-year-old secure his first job and personally provided transportation for over a month while his placement situation was being resolved.
Through her unwavering commitment, both brothers now have the stability, support, and connection they desperately needed.
Without Mary’s advocacy, these life-changing moments wouldn’t have been possible. We are beyond grateful for her tireless efforts and the difference she makes for her CASA guys every single day.
